Home INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE BSc IT (Cyber Security/AI and Data Science) Industry Visit
Visiting the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Ahmedabad presents an invaluable opportunity for students to witness firsthand the remarkable advancements in space science and technology. The visit aims to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world applications by providing insights into satellite development, remote sensing, and space communication systems. By exploring the research and innovations at the Space Applications Centre (SAC) and the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), students can deepen their understanding of how space technology contributes to societal progress. This experience not only fosters scientific curiosity but also inspires the next generation of space scientists and engineers to actively contribute to India’s space exploration endeavors.
The Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics (BISAG-N),
located in Gandhinagar, is an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Electronics and Information
Technology (MeitY). It provides geospatial, remote sensing, and satellite communication services for
governance, planning, and development. BISAG-N develops GIS solutions, supports tele-education
through channels like Vande Gujarat and SWAYAM Prabha, and applies technology in agriculture,
water resource management, disaster management, and infrastructure planning. With strong
government support and advanced facilities, it plays a key role in projects like the PM-GatiShakti
mission. While challenges remain in data updating and keeping pace with rapid technological
changes, BISAG-N continues to strengthen Gujarat and India’s digital governance, education, and
resource management.
The objective of the visit is to provide students with practical exposure to geospatial technologies,
remote sensing, GIS applications, and satellite-based communication systems. It aims to help them
understand how these technologies are applied in governance, agriculture, education, disaster
management, and infrastructure planning. The visit will also create awareness about the role of
BISAG-N in national projects like PM-GatiShakti and inspire students to explore career and research
opportunities in space applications and geoinformatics.
