The hands-on workshop on Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT) conducted on 5th November 2025 at Gyanmanjari Institute of Technology provided fifth-semester Mechanical Engineering students with practical exposure to one of the most important non-destructive testing methods used in industry. Led by Prof. Bhavesh Makwana, the session bridged theoretical concepts with real-world applications by demonstrating magnetization techniques, defect detection principles, and both dry and wet particle testing methods. Students observed live demonstrations, learned the step-by-step inspection procedure, and understood key parameters such as current intensity, surface preparation, and safety protocols. Through discussions on applications in automotive, aerospace, fabrication, and power sectors, the workshop highlighted the significance of NDT in ensuring quality, reliability, and preventive maintenance. The interactive session enhanced students’ technical competence and deepened their appreciation for inspection and quality control in modern engineering practice.
Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) organized a workshop on One Week One Theme (OWOT) in eight different themes across its 37 laboratories to showcase translatable research leads to marketable/value-added technologies/products, enhancing interactions and connecting to stakeholders to enable ease of technology licensing. The targeted theme "Energy and Energy Devices (EED)" is focused on conventional, non-conventional, sustainable, and innovative approaches for energy generation and storage solutions during the workshop at CSIR-CSMCRI (a sister laboratory of CSIR), Bhavnagar.
The workshop brought together various CSIR labs, renowned research institutes from the country, and scholars who engaged with experts on various themes. Following the enlightening sessions, there were project demonstrations for the speakers. During this event, students from GMIU showcased their Biodiesel Production Plant project, which earned them the runner-up prize.
As on date 21/10/2023 Mechanical department have successfully conducted a workshop session in guidance of Prof. JIGNESH VAGHELA who had a gread academic history and remarkable project work experience in Automation technology and Robotics. Our 1st semester & 3rd semester students from Diploma Engineering and 1st semester & 3rd semester students from B.E/B.Tech. have been sensitized with the core knowledge of this technology and received a skill enhancement for their upcoming projects and academic growth.
On 10th october, 2023 GMIU mechanical department has organized a design competetion for Diploma and Degree students of mechanical engineering. Prof. Kamlesh K. Chauhan has planned this event very nicely and it has been started with introduction speech by HOD of Mechanical department Prof. Deepak S. Jani. The students has learned to develop 3d models and assembly drawing of mechanical components on computer softwares like Autocad, Solidworks, NX, etc. with the guidence of Prof. Kamlesh K. Chauhan and Prof. Chetan J. Parmar. Later, students have given task to identify, draw and explain specific industial components/products at the end of the event. All students were appreciated with certificates for their active participation and winners & runnerup have been awarded.
