A sanitary inspector generally looks after public health and hygiene. Public health is an important matter of concern for the municipal bodies in allover world. Sanitary inspectors play an important role in the protection of public health and environment in various ways. They take measures to maintain and improve standard of public health in the specified area. Inspects houses, shops, malls, factories, entertainment places, markets, drains, night soil depots, rubbish depots, burial and cremation ground, etc., and undertakes public health activities such as disinfections, anti-malarial and anti-epidemic measures. Inspects hotels, restaurants, etc. to ensure that food and edibles sold are fit for public consumption. Sanitary health inspectors are professionals who are focused on prevention, investigation, consultation, and education of the community regarding health risks and maintaining a safe environment. Their requirement is rising with the changes in the public health sector. Municipal & Civic bodies in a state depend on sanitary inspectors for dealing with numerous public issues which range from safety of food, safe drinking water and general sanitary conditions.
